Tips for using a laboratory planetary ball mill

Dec 24,2024

Laboratory ball mill can help us pre-process samples for grinding, which is very convenient. Common laboratory ball mills include planetary ball mills and vibrating ball mills. The use of each device requires certain methods.

Tips for using a laboratory planetary ball mill:

1. Place the equipment in a flat and open position, keep it balanced, turn on the instrument and run it for three to five minutes, observe whether there is any problem with the instrument panel display, and judge whether there is any abnormal noise inside the machine when it is running;

2. After the trial run is correct, put the prepared sample and grinding balls into the ball mill in proportion. If it is the first time to grind, be sure to reserve one-third of the grinding space;

3. Open the box cover, fix the grinding jar with the ball material in the jar seat, and close the box cover. The planetary ball mill needs to pay attention to the counterweight, that is, two ball mills should be placed diagonally on the main wheel or four ball mills should be placed to keep the balance of the equipment during high-speed operation;

4. Power on the equipment, turn on the switch, set the low speed to run for more than ten seconds, and then adjust to high speed after no abnormality;

5. After grinding, let it stand for a few minutes and take out the ball mill tank after the temperature drops. Be careful not to slip. If it is a flammable or explosive item, wear heat-insulating protective gloves;

6. After the sample is ground, clean the ball mill tank and grinding balls of the planetary ball mill in time to avoid sample accumulation and difficulty in cleaning, and reduce the impact of sample residue on the next experiment.
