Planetary ball mill is a commonly used equipment for laboratory sample grinding pre-treatment, which can be used for fine grinding of materials. The grinding effect of the ball mill is affected by many factors, including sample, grinding ball, grinding method, etc.

The main function of laboratory planetary ball mill compression device is to fix the ball mill jar (grinding jar) in the puller cylinder and compress it firmly to prevent the ball mill jar from flying out during high-speed rotation, causing damage and safety incident. The ball mill compression device is mainly composed of a compression screw (i.e. claw screw), a locking cap, a beam (yoke) and a lock block.

The shapes of the compression devices of different manufacturers are different. The main principle is to press the bottom of the ball mill jar and the puller cylinder through the thread matching of the screw rod and the cross beam. There will be vibration or slight shaking during the ball milling process. The function of locking cap is to lock and prevent loosening to prevent the ball milling jar from flying out due to loosening of the compression screw rod and beam threads. The cross beam is hung on the square opening of the outer diameter of the puller cylinder to provide support and stability for the compression screw. The bottom of the press block is in direct contact with the ball mill jar cover, which is usually made of plastic or rubber, and the ball mill jar is not easily damaged.

Some manufacturers will simply make the claw screws and locking caps into long screws and nuts. The principle and effect are the same, and the beam (yoke) will be made into three claws, which will provide more stable support.
